1. Introduction

This Privacy Policy describes how GreenGo Helper ("the Extension", "we", "us", or "our") handles information when you use our browser extension. GreenGo Helper is a companion extension for the GreenGo desktop application that enables one-click YouTube video downloads.

Our Privacy Commitment: GreenGo Helper is designed with privacy as a core principle. We do not collect, store, transmit, or share any of your personal data. All data processing happens locally on your device.

2. Information We Do NOT Collect

GreenGo Helper does NOT collect, store, or transmit any of the following:

• Personal identification information (name, email, address, phone number)
• Browsing history or web activity outside of YouTube.com
• YouTube viewing history or watch patterns
• Search queries or preferences
• IP addresses or location data
• Device information or browser fingerprints
• Analytics, telemetry, or usage statistics
• Crash reports or error logs

We have no servers. There is no backend infrastructure, no database, and no remote data collection of any kind. The extension operates entirely on your local machine.

3. Data Processed Locally

GreenGo Helper processes the following data locally on your device only to provide its core functionality:

3.1 YouTube Session Cookies

What: Your YouTube authentication cookies (session tokens that prove you're logged in to YouTube).

Why: These cookies are required so the GreenGo desktop app can download videos on your behalf using your YouTube account credentials. Without these cookies, YouTube would block download requests.

How: The extension reads cookies from the .youtube.com domain using the Chrome Cookies API and formats them in Netscape cookies.txt format (the standard format expected by yt-dlp, the download engine used by GreenGo).

Where: Cookies are saved to a local file on your computer:

• Windows: %APPDATA%\GreenGo\youtube_cookies.txt
• Linux: ~/.config/GreenGo/youtube_cookies.txt or ~/Downloads/greengo_youtube_cookies.txt

Transmission: Cookies are sent only to localhost:7291 (the GreenGo desktop app running on your own computer). They are never transmitted to any remote server.

3.2 Video URLs and Metadata

What: The URL and title of YouTube videos you choose to download.

Why: To send download requests to the GreenGo desktop app.

Where: Video information is stored temporarily in:

• The extension's local storage (Chrome Storage API)
• A local queue file: ~/Downloads/greengo_queue.json

Transmission: Video URLs are sent only to localhost:7291 (your local GreenGo app). They are never transmitted to any remote server.

3.3 Download Queue

What: A list of videos you've queued for download when GreenGo was offline.

Why: To ensure videos are downloaded even if the GreenGo app isn't running when you click the download button.

Where: Stored locally in the extension's Chrome Storage and in ~/Downloads/greengo_queue.json.

Retention: Queue items are deleted automatically after they're successfully downloaded by GreenGo, or when you manually clear the queue.

GreenGo Helper communicates only with the GreenGo desktop app running on your local machine. All communication happens over localhost (127.0.0.1) on port 7291.

5.1 Local API Endpoints

The extension connects to these endpoints on your computer:

• http://localhost:7291/ping — Health check to detect if GreenGo is running
• http://localhost:7291/download — Send video download requests
• http://localhost:7291/cookies — Sync YouTube cookies to GreenGo
• http://localhost:7291/queue — Retrieve current download queue status

5.2 No External Servers

GreenGo Helper does NOT connect to:

• Any remote servers operated by us or third parties
• Analytics services (Google Analytics, Mixpanel, etc.)
• Advertising networks
• Content delivery networks (CDNs) for tracking
• Error reporting services (Sentry, Bugsnag, etc.)

The only external domain the extension interacts with is youtube.com (to inject the download button and read cookies), and this interaction is limited to what's necessary for the extension to function.

6. Data Retention

• Cookies: Updated automatically whenever you visit YouTube. Stored until you uninstall the extension or manually delete the cookie file.
• Download Queue: Cleared automatically when videos are successfully downloaded, or when you click "Clear Queue" in the extension popup.
• Extension Settings: Stored in Chrome's local storage until you uninstall the extension.

7. Data Sharing

We do not share any data with anyone. There is no data to share because we don't collect any data in the first place.

The extension does not integrate with:

• Third-party analytics providers
• Advertising networks
• Social media platforms
• Data brokers or aggregators

8. Third-Party Services

GreenGo Helper does not use any third-party services, libraries, or SDKs that collect data. The extension is built using only:

• Standard browser APIs (Chrome Extension APIs)
• Vanilla JavaScript (no external frameworks that track users)
• Local file system operations

9. Children's Privacy

GreenGo Helper does not knowingly collect any information from anyone, including children under 13. Since we don't collect any data at all, the extension is safe for users of all ages.

10. Data Security

Since all data processing happens locally on your device, the security of your data depends on:

• Your device's security (password protection, disk encryption, etc.)
• Your browser's security (keeping Chrome/Firefox updated)
• File system permissions on your computer

We recommend:

• Keeping your operating system and browser up to date
• Using strong passwords and enabling disk encryption
• Only installing the extension from official sources (Chrome Web Store, Firefox Add-ons)

11. Your Rights and Control

You have complete control over your data:

11.1 View Your Data

• Cookies: Open %APPDATA%\GreenGo\youtube_cookies.txt (Windows) or ~/.config/GreenGo/youtube_cookies.txt (Linux)
• Queue: Open ~/Downloads/greengo_queue.json
• Extension storage: Use Chrome DevTools → Application → Storage → Extensions

11.2 Delete Your Data

• Clear queue: Click "Clear all" in the extension popup
• Delete cookies: Delete the youtube_cookies.txt file manually
• Remove all data: Uninstall the extension from chrome://extensions

11.3 Opt Out

If you don't want the extension to capture cookies or send download requests, simply uninstall it. There are no background processes or residual tracking after uninstallation.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the extension's functionality or legal requirements. When we make changes:

• The "Last Updated" date at the top of this page will be revised
• Significant changes will be announced on the GreenGo website
• Continued use of the extension after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy

We will never introduce data collection or tracking without explicit notice and user consent.
